It's funny, although I like Emmitt and he definitely deserves his place in Canton, would he be as highly regarded if he were not the NFL's leading rusher? I'm not even sure Emmitt is the greatest Cowboys rb ever (Tony Dorsett). We live in a fantasy sports era, people are obsessed with total stats. Curtis Martin and Jerome Bettis have more yards than Jim Brown, but who in their right mind would think they're better than Brown?

Barry did not quit. The Lions quit on him by not helping him. Barry walked away with his dignity and his health. The Lions robbed us true football fans of watching a great rb play even longer.

So why is Jim Brown not labelled a quitter then? He walked away from the Browns in his prime and played less seasons and less games. The Lions quit on Barry, that's why he walked away. He made it clear in his book wasn't going to stick around just to pad his stats if the team had no chance of winning unlike a certain running back from Dallas...*cough* Emmitt *cough*
