This was the first song where the proceeds went to aids research, that was in 1985 kiddies. WaxTrax was the label that released the record and definitely was the driving force behind new bands that change the music that we listen today.

Back in the 80's, when our friends were dying of AIDS, one after another, this video would play at BERLIN in Chicago. They took it off the playlist. Too depressing. Today, yoiung gay men have no idea what AIDS is really like without the new drugs. This was our reality. Never-ending death.

RE: "As a work of art I think your exagurating its very good but it isnt a first or a monumental piece by any form or standard"; You do realise that it is on permanent display in the Museum of Modern Art, NY...

This is a work of art. It's statement on the atmosphere of dread, fear, and homophobia at the height of the AIDs epidemic. No one in their right mind would compare this to cheese that Mike Oldfield releases.

It exaggerates depression to the point you stop and think it's pointless being depressed just sit back and let the depression lull over you, a mellon collie if you will i found it more relaxing than depressing i don't like depressing songs and i like this but i prefer it to the other versions As a work of art I think your exagurating its very good but it isnt a first or a monumental piece by any form or standard it couldn't stand even toe high next to oldfield miles davies holst muse hendrix etc

I prefer the original 1964 song by Gloria Jones . but the Coil version is unique.

Interesting, although the song slightly overstays its welcome.... they should have skipped one verse. The video's great, though.

i thought this was really good, but a little too slow for me. it was very dark and eerie, and i liked it, but it was just too slow to listen to all the time..
