jmpconstco ::: Favorites As a Vet who fought in the Vietnam War, listening to this remarkable song reduces me to rubble. We all thought we were so tough and macho. That was until the first time we saw one of our buddies get hit and then pass on right before our eyes. Then suddenly, we weren't so tough and macho anymore. This song says it all so very well. SherryAnn68 ::: Favorites Tommy...you're welcome. Our generation's music was the best, for sure. 07-09-03 01:58:53 _____________________________________________________
MEOWSICMAN ::: Favorites tHANKS SHERRY, VERY KIND WORDS, AND I APPRECAITRE THAT. tOMMY tOMA 07-08-31 23:08:48 _____________________________________________________
misterten2 ::: Favorites you're right about seeing him do this live...I had never heard this song, then saw him at Madison Sq Garden in 1993 when he performed it...it was moving. 07-08-31 21:36:19 _____________________________________________________
buzzintexas ::: Favorites Never heard this song before now. Born in 62 and I thought I'd heard em' all. No, I'm not crying, my eyes are just red. I recognised Afghanistan in there. No, my eyes are just red. 07-08-27 19:53:38 _____________________________________________________
SherryAnn68 ::: Favorites Roxinger, that's really sad about your friend from h.s. losing his life in Nam. My boyfriend came back from Vietnam safely but to be honest with you, he didn't seem like the same person. The war really affected him. But he's probably ok now....that was a long time ago. Tommy, it's so obvious that you are a baby boomer, because you can tell that you feel such passion for our music back then and what it meant to all of us. We really appreciate you... 07-08-24 23:25:43 _____________________________________________________
roxinger ::: Favorites Ran out of room, here's more. If there's any way any of you can see Gary perform the song live in concert, you should do so. If you can't, then log onto his website at garypuckettmusic, go to the GP Store link, & there's a "Live" CD & DVD of a concert he did in Las Vegas. These are available only at his shows or on the website. 07-08-21 23:07:25 _____________________________________________________
roxinger ::: Favorites The song always makes me cry, & Gary asked me about it after a show he did in Jan. of last year. I sat about 2 feet from the stage, right in front of him, & started crying as soon as he started singing it. I told him about my high school boyfriend losing his life in Vietnam, & that I'm glad he sings the song in honor of our vets & active duty troops. In fact, he told me that it's a song that he "can't not sing" no matter what. 07-08-21 22:53:42 _____________________________________________________
